more than 667 ways to say thank you (Idiom Thursday special)
Now I know that thank you is not an idiom – today I just feel like writing about this phrase we don’t seem to use as often as we should.
Some people say it’s a symptom of crisis, some say the “magic words” thank you(and please) started vanishing because we’re just becoming more rude (yes, “ruder” is more correct in British English):
Other polite phrases also seem to be falling by the wayside. “You’re welcome,” for instance. Say “thank you” to someone these days, and instead of hearing “you’re welcome,” you’re more liable to hear: “Sure.” “No problem.” “You bet.” “Enjoy.” Or a long list of replies that replace the traditional “you’re welcome.”
Instead of saying “thank you,” people say “got it.” Or “have a good one.” Or, more often, nothing at all. And in lieu [instead] of saying “no, thank you,” reactions such as “I’m good” are increasingly common.

There are many ways how to say thank you: you can either use the phrases you know or revise in a lesson of basic English, the 600 ways of thank you the author and journalist Daniel H. Pink has published on his website or all the 67 ways of how to say thank you (PDF) I’ve found today. It’s up to you and your creativity – believe me, there’s always someone to thank or something to be thankful for.
